- Description
- This chapter examines a range of resources potentially available to support inclusion. Teaching and learning are enhanced when teachers use all available resources to support quality assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of educational programs. Knowledge and understanding of these resources and how to access and utilise them is crucial if best practices are to be implemented, and best outcomes are to be achieved. This chapter has a very practical emphasis as it seeks to address the challenges that teachers face in their efforts to meet increasingly diverse learning needs. This chapter links to all the other chapters to provide a comprehensive approach to supporting inclusion. The initial assessment of support needs in the enrolment of students with additional needs is crucial. Some of these needs can be met through existing resources, while others will require additional resources: some will require only initial support, whereas others will require ongoing support. This chapter seeks to develop the knowledge, skills and expertise regarding resources that all teachers need to plan for and facilitate best outcomes for all students in inclusive settings.
